Department Of Marathi

Marathi Department was started in 1989 with second language and optional Marathi subject at undergraduate level.

It worked without any government grant till 1995, which was given to it in 1996. Since the beginning, the number of students were good in this department and it is still so being the first and only College from all over the taluka. Because of this, number of students for Marathi subject are more.

Different types of linguistic and literary programs are conducted for students under Marathi language department. For developing various skills in students, different kinds of programs are planned throughout the year and every year for example, Elocution competition, Debate competition, Essay Writing competition, extempore competition. Along with these various programs are held to explore various artistic talents like play writing competition, pantomime competition.

For developing spoken and writing skill in students, a mural called “JAAGAR” is published every year. Through this, students are given a chance to showcase their poem, articles, creative writing and hand writing.

Every year in the months of August and September a literary Association is established by the Marathi department for the inauguration of this association various notable and famous personalities in Marathi literature are invited like Dr. Pralhad Lulekar, Dr. Satish Badve, and Prof. P.I Sonkamble, Prof D T Bhagwat, Dr S.S Bhosle, Dr. Deokarn Madan, Prof. Popatrao Khosare, Dr Dada Gore, Dr. Dilip Mahalinge to name a few.

“Marathi Bhasha Satkar  wo Marathi Bhasha Sanvardhan Pandharwada” is celebrated between 14th January to 28th January as per the circular created by the Maharashtra Government during this Pandharwata various kind of programs like poem writing , Essay Writing,Hand Writing competition, Debate competition , Book presentation  Granth Dindi (Rally)  are organized every year for developing lingual and literary interests among students. As the chief guest for this program various famous writers and scholars and invited. Like Prof. Uttam Baviskar, Dr.Balaji Nagtialak, Dr.Deokarn Madan, Dr. Dada Gore.

“Wachan Prerna Divas” (15th Oct), “Marathi Rajyabhasha Divas” (27th Feb), “Savitribai Phule Jayanti’ (12th Jan), “Mahatma Phule Jayanti (12th Jan), “Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti” (19th Feb), and days like these are celebrated every year by Marathi department students. These celebrators are organized by U.G and P.G level students of Marathi department.

Every year Marathi department send students to other college to take part in various programs to encourage the art and creating in them. Various programs are held / organized by this department which works on the graduation and post-graduation level. Students of every of graduation and post-graduation level take part in these programs.

The students of Marathi language and literature also take part in the annual gathering takes various steps to encourage the artistic skill a creating in the students.

Up till now the enrollment ratio of students in this department has been exceptional and so has been the passing ratio. Many students pass with merit and distinction and even more pass with first class.

Along with all the things mentioned above, Marathi department ensures that its students are developed on all fronts including Educational and extra-curricular all round development is the vision of this department and it envisages to instill the required skill and creating in its students to help them achieve the pinnacle of their desired career.

Currently there are one Professor, one Asst. Professor and 02 C.H.B Level Assist. Professor at post graduate level in this department

M.A course was started in academic year 2009-2010 since it was the first course in Aurangabad District at taluka level. It was beneficial for backward class students and minorities for their inclusion in the higher Education. This course proved helpful for many students as they went forward in different Ph.D. Research, becoming lectures and many competitive examination.
