Central Library (Knowledge Resource Center)

The word ‘Khuldabad’ means ‘a land of heaven’. Khuldabad had been the land of knowledge before the independence of India. It is a home to Shrines of numerous Sufis, saints. Through these Sufi Khankhas (Monastery) education was imparted to common people. Apart from this, Khuldabad is also known for the famous Bhadra Maruti Temple.

       On this heavenly land, Chishtiya College of Arts was established in the year 1989. The Library of the College had 199 books at the time of establishment which costed rupees 6518. Today there are 11669 books available.

       There is a well maintained central library, having a collection of books, journals, magazines, and encyclopedia. In all subjects including Arts, Commerce and Science available in Urdu, Marathi, Hindi and English Languages. For Under graduation and Post-Graduation studies. This makes our library, the biggest library in Khuldabad Taluka.

The special collection of library includes ‘Sant Sahitya’ or Literature written by Saints in Marathi language; ‘Sufi Literature’ in Urdu Language and ‘Dakhani Literature in Hindi Language. Library has a maximum of Urdu Books i.e. 2952 mainly because people of Khuldabad are familiar with this language, followed by Marathi and History subject.

       Apart from textbooks, the library contains books for reference, General Knowledge for Competitive Exams and Career guidance. It also provides reading material for M.Phil. and Ph.D. students coming to Khuldabad for research work. Devy Decimal Classification is method used to classify the books of the library.

Central Library provides the following facilities to the members other than registered students and staff.

Today, with fast moving technology, the Library has also adopted new methods for record keeping and cataloging books through ICT based tools such as ‘SOUL 2.00’ software powered by Inflibnet. The Library also registered for NList subscription for the year 2021-22 which provide access to almost 6297 e- journals and 195809 e books. With this innovation, thirty One year old Library has entered a new era of modern world. Anyone having registration with the College Library can read online or download for offline reading from anywhere. This makes the work more convenient for the research scholars and other students not able to reach College due to various reasons.

‘A good book not only gives knowledge but also develops the personality of an individual.’ Therefore the efforts will be continued to keep Library updated with great books and innovative methods for the benefit and well-being of the students and teachers.
