Department of Geography
The Geography Department was established in 1995–96. Department offers Geography as one of the optional subjects at undergraduate level.
Mission and Objectives of the Department
The mission of the Geography Department is to prepare students to engage in the processes that create more sustainable environments and communities throughout the world.
We offer students the highest quality Geographic education through innovative teaching, interactive field experiences.
We provide students with foundational Geographical knowledge & skill that focus on the interconnection & interdependency of Earth’s complex natural systems & diverse human societies.
Consistent with the mission the department strives to achieve the following objectives:
To provide students with knowledge about the earth’s natural environment & its relationship to society.
To provide students with knowledge about the worlds people, nation, cultural environments & spatial organization.
To provide students with a good grounding in the modern technical skill of the discipline including computer cartography, spatial analysis spatially oriented quantitative method.
To instill within each student an appreciation for the great variety of cultural forms & ways of thinking throughout the world & to help students formulate a worldview that uses this appreciation to become responsible citizens.
Departmental Activities
- Department organizes yearly field visits and Geographical study tour.
- Department organizes Guest Lectures on various Geographical Topics.
- Department publishes monthly wall papers in Geographical Topics “Nisarg Mitra Mandal”
- Students are encourage to collect samples of rock and soil for study.
- Department always guide the students for their career.
- Department have well satisfied strength and good result.
